It would depend on the situation, and it could be different in each situation, so there is no cut and clear answer to his question. In most cases, if you are new to learning price action, just avoid engulfing bars completely, as they can be tricky and unreliable. With time and experience, you will learn to get a feel for them, but early on, I usually encourage traders to just avoid them altogether.
